The Iron Horse Mothers Club (IHMC) was formed in April 1996, to serve as a resource to mothers with young children in the Pleasanton, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin and Alamo communities. In 2004, our membership expanded when we merged with the Mothers Club of San Ramon Valley. We now have more than 150 members and are continuing to grow.
The IHMC is a support network for our members. Many moms join the mother’s club in order to find a playgroup for their child/children; however, the mother’s club has much more to offer. We plan many different activities throughout the year for kids, moms and kids, and the whole family. For moms, we offer a variety of “sub-clubs”. From the book club to wine tasting, our sub-clubs are a great way to pursue new interests and meet new friends. We also have “Mom’s Night Out” events for socializing without the little ones.
Our club is member run with small groups of members coming together to form Social, Playgroup, New Mommy Meals, Newsletter, Outreach, and Membership Committees, to name a few. Collectively the committees along with additional administrative positions such as Co-Directors, Treasurer and Secretary, form the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee meets once a month to discuss club issues, plan future activities and put out a monthly newsletter. It is a great way to get involved and have a great time working toward a common goal.
